Reports On Memorial Fund And Membership The slum of £1300 is needed by the Wellington eouneil of the New Yealaml Fedemtion of Yotlng Eatiners 5" Clubs to complete its quota for Ihe Y.P.C. national war memorial fund. At yesterday's annual general meeting of the eouneil in Palmerston Nortli, Mr H. 0. A. Wards, assistant Dominion organising secretary, sta'ted that £5234 had peen raised in the Wellington Provinee so far. Since tlie autumn meeting £150 had been raised. The Dominion total was £15,654 so far. Some districts had over-subscribed while others were under their quotas. The liighest district total was £10SS from the Wairarapa, an •average of £4 6s per head. Other totals were: Nortli Taranaki £638, Centrai Taranaki £172, South Taranaki £133, Wanganui £571, Manawatu £924, Horowhenua £212, Southern Hawke's Bay £568, Centrai Hawke's Bay £604, Northern Hawke's Bay £151, and GisborneEast Coast £168. Mr I. G. Tabor advised that the memorial fnnd would close on May 15, 1950. More Members Wanted Mr C. Walker, assistant Fields Superintendent in the Department of Agriculture in Palmerston North, advised that although the Manawatu Young Farmers ' Olub had one of the largest membership roles in the provinee, only 22 per cent. of those who were able , to join were members. There was a po- ; tential membership of 1900 in the Ma- . nawatu but only 400 had joined. In I Gisborne the total potential was 1900 but there were only 140 members. County totals in the Manawatu were: Kiwitea 200 potential, 60 members; Pohangina 120 potential, 50 members; Ma- ' nawatu 600 potential, 63 members; Kairanga 560 potential, 150 members; Oro- ! ua 400 potential, 140 members.
Mr Mclntyre congratulated the Southern Hawke's Bay district on forming a Country Girl's Association. Other districts had found it difficult to do this. During discussion on whether it should be general policv to allow girls into the Y.F.C., Mr E. S. Whitehead said they had done a good job of work on the land in the war and should therefore be allowed into the movement. The following motion was passed to be forwarded to the Dominion executive eouneil as a recommendation: That the movement sponsor country girls' associations and when there are not enough to form an individual club, should allow them into the movement. Tlie following were elected to the debating sub-committee: IMessrs B. Todd, K. Mitchell, D. Maelachlin, W. Heckler, and R. D. Horton. The following remits were passed for recommendation by the Dominion eouneil: That all live stock made availabie for Y.F.C. or eouneil judging contests, be mature specimens of their breed; that judges who have officiated at district or eouneil stock judging conipetitions, shall not be asked to officiate atthe national eontest in the same year; that all stock demonstrations be held in an adequately sized ring.
