Levin Guides Entertain Seatoun Company

Mellington and Leyin girl guides had a weekend out when on Friday 24 members of the 15th Seatoun Balmoral Company, in eharge of Captain (Miss) J. Perry and Lieutenant (Miss) K. Piper, arrived in Levin as Ihe guests of 'the 1st Levin. Company. Tlie visit was much looked forward to by both companies, and ad enjoyed themselves and adjudged the visit as 100 per cent. suecessful. The visitors were met at the statioh and arrangemon'ts were made for their -bLie~ing in homes in Levin.

On Saturday mornmg twc ; basketball games were staged, Seaoun - winning the A game by 18^ — D and the B grade resuiting in £ draw 11 — 11. After lunch the girls cycled out to the Waiopehu Scenic Reserve,' an ou ing which was thoroughly enjoyed. Games- and afternoon tea followed a ramble in this local beauty spot. In the qvening a scoijts' and gpides' combined social was held in St. Mary's HaT, a bus load .of scouts from Foxton and local scouts being prescnt. Mr. Campbell Davie played for dancing and musical games. Sunday morning saw a church parade at S:. Mary's Anglican Church, the Rev. G. B. StoteBlandy delivering an appropriate sermon. Rain, unfortunately, prevented an inspection of the companies. The afternoon was free and the visitors left at 5.25 p.m. after a pleasapt weekend. Captain ■ (Mrs.) J. Chainey was ib charge of tne Levin company.
