Eolkestone and Corineus began well but Young Bob soon had charge' and led from Folkestone, Master Ted, Royal Moutoa, High Order, The Fake, Peria Prince, Beaulitha, Corineus and Detain. Folkestone, Young Bob and Royal Moutoa were almost in "line as the field turned for home and Master Ted and Detaiu were handy. Young Bob had charge over the last fence and he vvou easily by two lengths from Master Ted well elear of Detain. Folkestone, who failed to see it out, was a useful fourth followed by The Fake.

Super Flight had charge at the distance and Carnegie and Blank Cheque were challenging. In ' a grand finish Blank Cheque got the decision by a neck from Carnegie a length in front of Super Flight. Tommy Gun (inished fast for fourth and next were Winning Cheer, Duvaals, Miss Bairnsfather, which had to be cliecked at the home turn, Bright Side and Brown Derby.

Rappel and Platonic led at the three from In Front, Show Boy and FLving Fort, and Great Bid raced through to be in front a furlong from the line. Then Show Boy challenged and headed Great Bid *and looked a lilcely winner until Billy Mac flashed up to win decisively. Night Royal was fourth and Chip was fifth. ' .
