BIBLE TRUTH. ■ The Intolerance of The Gospel. jn these days of fcasy-gomg toierance in thmgs religious; when all kinds of "secits of Ohristlans" get a.ong well together, and all claim to be '"gomg to the same piace by different roads"; when reunion of tne churches.is being planned — it is considered the height ' of "bad* taste," to suggest that the "Gospel" is really intoierant. in other words, churches and individuals consider that they have a perfect right to hoid and teach diiferent ideas or dogmas, or none at all; and should ailow everybody else to do the same, without dispute or argument; and acknowledge all others as "brother Christians," entitled to Salvation. This attitude' of "charity" and "brotherly love," which shuns and abhors "all contention over religion, would be right and
pieasant if man had right to make the "Gospel" to suit himself, and ."could "save" himself for ever by Jhis own power. I But, as we are informed quite clearly, emphatically, and without diispute, that "th,e gospel is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth." (Rom. 1: 16; see also 1 Cor. 1:17.) It is plain that God alone has right to specify that "gospel," its teachings, conditions, commands, etc. Is God's I "gospel" tolerant, easy-going, allinclusive? No. Let God-inspired Paul (1 Cor. 14:37) answer. Gal.'l: 8-12, "But tthough we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gos'pel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." This is positively, radically, shockingly, intoierant; not even an angel could change the original "gospeL" Why? Paul says it was not "after (from) men '. . . but by revelation of Jesus Christ" Jude lays the obligation down, "ye should earnestly contend for the faith once delivered."
