SYDNEY, July 14. Professor Marcus Oliphant, the noted atomic scientist, who arrived i'n Sydney to-day by air from London, declared it was certain atomic energy would eventually displace coal as a power source in many industries This was now in the realm of chemical and civil engineering. He envisaged the use of electric power from central atomic sources. Professor Oliphant will advise 011 the construction of a physics laboratory at the Canberra National University, for full scale atomic research. He hopes within 18 months to supervise the construction of a new machine to produce projectiles used in nuclear fission.
