V" ^ ^ ■ w-~ The Horowhenua Scottish Society held . a pleasant social evening in St.-Mary's Hall, Levin, on. Wednesday hight, there being a large attendance of ipembers. During theL' evening the chief of the society, Mr. J. R. Macfarlane, welcomed members and apologised for his absence from the last members' evening. In regard to the new uniforms for the band, he said that a statement on the position to da'e woul^l be made at the quarterly general meeting to be held soon. The pipe band was present at the function and played selections. Items were also given by the following: N. Walton, V. Brand, Mrs. Taylor and Messrs Coliier and Lincoln. An exhibition of the Highland fiing was presented by pupils of Miss Jean Scott.
