Institute Drama Festival Commences
. The opening session of the annual drama festival conducted hy the Southern Wellington Federation of Women's Institutes took- place at Tawa Elatc. on Monday night. As has always heen the case with these festivals, there was a capacity house. The audience was an ap-, preciative one, a great help to the players. The adjudicator, Mr. R. S. Alljvright, expressed pleasure at the high standard set hy the players. Especially good, he said, w&s the work done'in the drama, "Red Sky at Night," presented by the Plimmerton institute and produce d by Roma Delicate. Mr. Allwright considered that Mary Tovey, in the part of Alice Fleetwood,. was outstanding and.he also complimented the producer- on the excellent way she had managed the fine scene. Two eomedies presented by the Paremata and Tawa Flat institutes were'very well received hy the audience and Came in for their fair share of copimendation from the adjudicator. Another session will be held at Tawa Flat tonight and the final one at Levin on'' Saturday. At the Levin session the Otaki institute will present a good drama, "Let it go at That," and a very pleasing cpmedy, "The1 Inconstant Moon," while the Levin institute will stage Philip Johnson's popular comedy, "Mrs. Methuselah." The box plan for Levin is rapidly filling. Patrons are again reminded of the necessity of being seated early as the doors are kept closed during the performance of each play. The doors open ats7 p.m. Seats may he reserved at Mr. W. Stannard's book shop. - % '
