Election Needed For Racing Club Stewards
Two new names had been put forward as candidates for positions as stewards when the Levin Racing Club's nominations for officials closed last night. Five stewards retire this year, four of Whom are seeking re-e^ection. With two new nominations there will be six candidates for the five vacancies and an election will be required. Apart from the nomination of the oldest standing steward, Mr. M. Wills, as a vice-president to replace the late Mr. T. Bevan, no new nominations were submitted for the other positions, which remain the same as last year. They are as follows: — President:. Mr. E. M. Ryder; vice-presidents : Dr. S. J. Thompson and Messrs W. Bull, W. '€. Hannan, S. L. Jackson, S. B. Mexted and M. Wills. Last year's stewards who are not subject to an election are Messrs F. H. Best, Geo. Lamb, D. W. McLennan, N. W. Ryder, G. H. Vickers and E. R. Winkler. The retiring stewards available for re-election are Messrs H. J. Bell, G. D. Harris, W. C. Stannard and A. Stewart. The two new nominees are Messrs S. T. O'Rourke and F. Fanning. The annual meeting 'of the club will be held in the bandroom on Tuesday, July 26, at 8 p.m.
