New Gym Offered Too Late For Boxing Season
The Levin Amateur Boxing and Physical Training Club decided at a special meeting last night that, although a gymnasium at the Levin Farm ha'd now been niade available to.the club, it Would be impossible to recommence activities this year as the season was too far advanced. The club went into recess recently owing to the council refusing it permission to use the newlyrenovated Regent Hall for training. The meeting last night agreed that if the gymnasium was still available next season, it would be very grateful for the use of io. Memoers expressed appreciation of the efforts of Cr. A. W. Parton in negotiating for the use of the gymnasium, and it was decided to write to him to this effect. In regard to next season, members expressed the opinion that it could not hope to stage tournaments unless the Regent Hall was made available for those occasions, as the club relied entirely on finance derived from its tournaments to carry on. Although, when transport difflculties were overcome, the gymnasium at the Levin Farm would be ideal for training purposes, it was too far from town to be used for tournaments.
