The Grand 'National Steeplephase of 3|- miles" - was won at Flemington by the Soutfi Australian jtJOrse Bav--Star, Chatsol, favourite and winner of the Grand National Hurdles, was never in the race as he hit a fence early. Though carrying top weight, David Star was always in a good position. He vvas hotly challenged by Briar in tne last half-mile but, despi'te carrying the second highest weight ever borne by a winner, he finished strongly. The result was: — G.N. STEEPLECHASE.
