Flood Silt Has Engulfed Buildings
SYDNEY, July 7. • Flooding is still extensive- in'fhq St. Albans and Wiseman 's Ferry area on the Hawkesbury River, 45 miles ;n'ofth of Sydney. Two hundred people living on ;.tlie scattered farms have been almost cut, off for three weeks, their only means of contact being a brid.le path througn the monntainous country. Stores* are taken in by pac"khorse. Damage in this area is now expected to exceed'that in Maitland. Thousands of tons of white sand now cover farmlands" to depths which, m some caaes, have engulf'ed buildings and elephone wires, The damage to citrua md stone fruit trees is enormous.
