AUCKLAND, July 4. With a background of 25 vears' service in the Royal Navy, Mr W. J. Waghorn, aged 45 vears, has been appointed accommodation officer for visitors to the Empire Games in Eebruary. He started his new work today. With a xating of chief writer, Mr Waghorn.retired from the Navy at Hong Ivong and was apnointed serviee manager for the China Fleet Clnb. He was also camp commandant in November last for the first evacuation of refugees to Hong Kong from Nortn China. Mr Waghorn, who was born at Gosport, Hampshire, was in New Zealand from 1930 to 1939, first as secretary to the naval officer in charge at Auckland and later in charge of Admiral Drum: mond's administration office on H.M.S. Achilles. The new appointment was made by the Auckland publie relations office. The work involves a survev of hotel, boardinghouse, and camping ground accommodation, and the establishment of a paying-guest scheme in private homes.
