Seventy Houses Being Built In Levin
♦ There are 70 dwellings under construction in Levin at thp present time, hut as yet uncompleted, apcoriding to a report from the builqmg inspector, Mr. H. T. Tilyard, presented at a meeting last night of the' Levin Borough Gouhcil.-. Spven dwellings were started during July an4 10 eompleted*. The shqrtage of cpment "vvas stated by the inspector ' to " have caused a ho^-up in the laying of fouqdations for new' dwellings, but builders had heen ah'le tp ppncentrate pn finishing jbhs aiready" advanced. Bermits were issued for new work as follows: Private dwellings S, ya.lue £9053 ; other buildings 2, vaiue £456. The following are the figiires fpr permits issued during .the perio'4 from April 1 to June 30, the figures for the same period in 1948 being shpwn in parentheses: Private dwellings 19'" (27), value £31,994 i£43,996) ; other buildings five (ohe), value £2316 (£300).
