New Produce Prices Will Benefit All
AUCKLAND/ 3Tuly 2. ;i The .agreenient would benefit everyone in the Dominion; sai'd Mr. W. N., Perry, the presi'dent of •'Nbw - -Zealaiicf Federated Farmers, in ■- a telephone in? terview from Cambridge ' today, com1: menting on .tfieiextra per cent. Britain will pay. for meat and dairy produce from the Dominion. . It would- bring .over £5,000,000 extra in revenue, "and would give' New. Zealand greater purchasing power in. Britain for needed goods. 1 ' Considering Britain 's present economic position, " Mr. Perry said, "I think she has done very well to grant this increase. Seeing the cost of imports from Britain has risen so steeply, it is only fair wc should'receive a eomparable rise in price for our products. With increased fertiliser supplies hoped for, and more materials now in short supply available for use on our farms, all farmers should feel the incentive to produce the foodstuffs^ urgently needed ovevseas. I urge all farmers to do their utmost to increase production. Besides benefiting Britain and themselves, they will also benefit the whole of New Zealand.;'
