TO OPPOSE CONSCRIPTION
WELLINGTON, June 30. A national organisation with headquarters at Auckland, has been set up to oppose conseription at the coming national referendum. The president of the organisation is Mr A. Monteath, junr., an exeeutive member of the Auckland Labour Eepresentation Committee. The secretary is Mr A. I. Keesing, president of the Mt. Eoskill branch of the Labour Partv. The national organiser is Mr. J. Mitchell, au exeeutive member of the Auckland branch of the Waterside Workers' Un- , ion and a member of the national eoun'cil of the union. Mr Mitchell said to-day that the exeeutive of the organisation eonsists of representatives of the Christian Pacilist Society, Quakers' Society, poiitieal parties and others opposed to conseription. The organisation has made an appeai for funds. A eolleetion taken among waterfront workers at Auckland realis- . ed £130.
