Merger Proposal For Two Agency Companies
WELLINGTON, June 29. Arrangements are being made for th.e amalgamation of the two stock and station agency companies^ \ Wright," Stephenson and Co. Ltd. aipd Abraham and Williams Ltd.. These /.two , companies have been: condueted in assoeiation for about 30 years. No. definite scheme has yet been announeed but a circular giving shareholders of Abraham and Williams a forewarning, has been sent out by the chairman of directors of the company. The circular is as follows: — "As you are no doubt aware, Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. own the majority of shares in Abraham and Williams Ltd. and in fact hold 66 per cent of the ordinary share capitai. Wright, .Stephenson and Company desire to bring about an amalgamation of the two companies and proposals to this end will shortly be made to shareholders of Abraham and Williams, for the exehange of their holdings on the basis of today's market values of the shares of both companies. It is thought that economies in administration and better trading returns will result from only oue company instead of two as at present. This is preliminary advice only and full details of the offer to be made to shareholders will be submittea to you as soou as possible."
