Creche Formed In Otaki
The meeting called by the Otaki Plunket Society on Wednesday evening last- for the purpose of furthering the proposal to form a creche was well attended. Mrs. W. Morton, after explaining the objects of the meeting, called on Mrs. Hall to outline the details of the'scheme. It was unanimously decided to form a creche, to open on July 1, .in the Anglican Hall, every -Friday afternoon frbm 1.30 to 5 p.m. Chi dren from one and ,ahalf to five years of age will be under the capable charge of Mrs. Hall, who is a trained kindergarten teacher, and an assistant., Mothers may lea,ve their children there for| the nominal charge of ls per child for the afternoon while they shop, visifr or rest f ree from the care of thpir young children. At the creche the kiddies will be occupied and entertained with han'dwork, music, story time, etc., and will have the opportunity of playing with children of their own age group. The membership fee is 2s 6d per year, and it is lioped that all mothers who make , use of the creche will become members and so help to butd up a fund to equip, and replenish. matbrials. . Mothers intending to take .theirchildren are asked to- provide afternoon refreshments for their children s'o that each child will have just what is desire'd for it. A small committee of mothers was formed comprising Mesdames Hal', M. Holmes, A. Manz, L. Moss; B. Rhodes, W. Rzoska and J. Hewit-: son (secretary). Gifts of toys which children have grown out of at home ' would be greatly appreciated, and also crayons, chalks, etc., and seagrass mats.
