Increases Sought by R.S.A. In War Pensions
^ WELLIN GrTON, June 24. An extra £1 per week on basic pensions, another 5s on eeonomie pensions, and 10s per week extra for widows are to be sought by ■ the R.S.A. These are some of the changes recommended • py the assoeiation. at the annual eonference today. x The War Pensions and Soeial Seeurity. Committee agreed that the prmciple of an economic pension should be reaffirmed and basic pensions should be increased. Purther increases recommended were: The wife of a disablea serviceman with a dependant chiid . 5s and the mother's allowance 5s. The conferenee also accepted a remit that the orphans' pension be increasea to 30s per week and guardians' aiiowances to the same figure. It was niso recommended that the War Pensions Board be given discretionary powers to grant a supplementary pension not exceeding £156 per year (inclusive of any eeonomie pension payable) to a pensionor receiving a disability pension of 25 per cent. or more who is unable tc
