Received Fridav 8.35 p.m. MELBOURNE, June 24. A .stoppage was decided on to-day by the 'Federal Council of the Australian Federated Union of Locomotive Enginemen if tlieir claims for higher penalty rates were not met within 30 davs. Tlie meeting of the Council considered the recent seeret ballot wherein the niembers by a tavo to one majority decided to strike unless given a 20 per cent increase on night work penaltv rates. The organisation represents al! the train drivers on the Australian Go-vernmcnt-owned railways.
