Labour Candidate For Otaki Electorate

A well-known Ohakea dairy farmer, Mr. J. J. D. Capstick, fivho is to contest the Otaki Seat for the Labour Party at the forthcoming election, represented the party in the Rangitikei electorate in 1946. Mr. Capjftick was born at Bulls 37 years ago and for the past 14 years has been farming on h!s own account. He is married with six daughters. For many years, Mr. - Capstick has taken an active part in Labour Party affairs, and he is now president of the Rangitikei L.R.C. of which he hss been an executive. member for the past nine . years. He is president of the SqnsonOhakea braneh of the party. . Mr. Capstick is particularly well known in the Ohakea district where

he has been prominently connected with numerous organisations. He has been active in sporting matters and was formerly a successful amateur boxer as a member of the Rongotea Club. He was also a member of the Ohakea Miniature Rifle Club. At present Mr. Capstick is secretary of the Ohakea School Committee and of the Hall Committee, and is a member of the Sanson-Ohakea braneh ofiFederated Farmers. Labour lost the Otaki seat, previously held by the late Mr. L. G. Lowry, at the last election by 44 votes.
