The baby girl, Caroiyh, was sleeping in a basin--ette in the sitting-room. Returnlng from the hafi just after 1.0.30 p.m., Mr, Poole noticed from the top of a rise that the cottage was ablaze. , Rescue Inmossible. Mr. Poole broke a window in the ; sitting-room and rescued the baby girl, -but -there was no hope of getting into the bedroom which the boy was occupying.
