WESTPORT, June 21. The Builer district coal mines were again idle today and there - is no inclication of a quick settlement of the dispute between the deputies and State Mines . ' ' Other ipine workers eannot be employed while the deputies are unavanable," said Mr. I. L. Tyler, secretary oi the Bullers miners ' central committee, today "and as a result there will be no work until an agreement ~ has been reached on the deputies5 claims." Yesterday underground miners and truckers proeeeded to work as usual at Denniston but were not allowed to start owing to the deputies not being present. This morning the Deputies' Union met the miners' couneil but it is not expected that any deeision -will be made whieh will result in a resumption oi work. Of 18 ordinary working days since May 26, seven have been lost by Stockton State. miners and five ;by nlost of the others, all arising from the protest at no relieving doctor. being availaDie at Stockton on two oceasions. Tlie deputies claim on this occasion that they should be paid their salariea hespite the stoppages in the mines, as has been done in the past, and the other men have no alternative but tq stay out until the deputies are ready to resume work. The aggregate district output represents about 1800 tons daily.
