Government To Review War Pensions
WELLINGTON, June 21. "The Government is going to re- | view the position of war pensioners and I have no doubt that out of the mihions Mr. Nash has got he will be able to do justice to them," said the Minister in Charge of War Pensions, Mr. Jones, addressincr the annual eonferenee of the N.Z.R.S.A., today. I He added: "I have no doubt that :f you listen to the Budget you will hear what is going to be done for] pensioners." The Minister said that the Government was always happy to have the guidance of returned servicemen_ when pensions were being considered, and he detailed recent imnrovements to the existing legislation. !£?! The Minister of Rehabilitationi Mr. Skinner, said that since the reorganisation of the Rehabilitation Board in 1944 nearly £86,000,000 had been made available for rehabilitation. It was more per capita than had been made availoble to ex-servicemen in any part of the world. It was a lot of money for the New Zealand taxpayer to find, but the Government would still need the co-operation of the association before the job was completed, said the Minister.
