Personal. Mrs. B. Hateley and -Miss.D. Hateley, of Mangaore, are spending a sh-ortt holiday in the Rotorua 'diatrlct. Manfaorei Strealn Erosion. Erosion ?on fcbe rlght bank of tbe Mangaore; Streanv near the boundary of Messrs A. F. Blrss' and P. J. Cole'is properties, had deteriorated and could not be allowed ;to- go any further, reporbed Mr. P. V. Tucker, overseer of the Makerua Drainage Board, at a recent meeting of the board. About one and a half chains were affected. Some material for protection was * available near the erosion. The matter was referred to the board's engineer, Mr. O. J. Dolan, with- uower to act. Memoriial Avenue. At a recent meeting of the Shannon Ratepayers' Association the projected planting of an avenue of trees in Ballance Stree't was discussed as a memorial to those who fell in the Second World War. Although the matter had been discussed by the association some time ago, little more was done. However, it was agreed that Messrs R. Vinsen and J. Sharpe represent the association at a meeting to be a,rranged with other organisations. Regarding the association's position, the secretary (Mr. R. S. Downes) s'tated that there was a paid up membership of 47 for the financial year just completed.
