They includecl the niain body of the Eirst Leicestershires and advance parties- of tlie Middlesex Regiinent and Argyll and Soutli'erlajid Ilighlaiiders. , It was stated today that tlie Portugu'ese autliorities "111 Macao, 40 niiles vvest of Iiong Kong, have requested Lisboii not to send reinforcenients to ■strengthen the colony 's defences. Tlie Macao autliorities felt tliat whatevhr reinforcenients were sent Vould be insuilicient to witiistand any frontai attack. The prcsent garrison is suHic ient for the suppression of any possible internal trouble.
