Doctor Accepts Chatham Islands Post
CHRISTCHURCH, June 13. When the Port Waikato sails from Lyttelton tomorrow morning for the Chatham Islands on her last trip until Cctober, she will have as a passenger Dr. Wilfred Lawrence, F.R.C.S. (Edinburgh), who is going to take up an appointment as medical officer in the islands in place of Dr. D. J. Patterson who lirst went to the islands in klay, j 1947, and returned there in Cctober of that year after several months' sick leave. He resigned recently and will return to the mainiand in the Port Waikato. Dr. Lawrence arrived in New Zealand last Friday by the Doininion Monarch and immediately agreed to take up the position which has beeh advertised fhroughout New Zealand in the last weelc or two. He is a Britisherv but has been wprking in South Africa and left there to cOme to New Zealand with his wife and child. Mrs, Lawrence is also a doctor and she and 'the child will go to the islands with the doctor. i
