Egmont, a young man slipped 500 feet down an ice-covered scoria face but escaped with abrasions to his hack apd hands- He was Robin Hume, aged 22, Ballance S,reet, Wanganui. • Although warned by the caretaker • of- the Stratford Mountain House (Mr. J. Hennessy) and by experienced mountaineers that to climb the mountain under prevailing conditions would be dari'gerous, some of a P%rty of Wanganui scouters of which Hume Iwas a member, made the attempt.
