Death Of Centenarian
, _ o ' CHRTSTprilTRCII, June, 12. Mrs. Eliza Hole, of Halswell, who celebrated lier 104th birthday on Octok ber 29 last year,' died 011 Saturday. Until a month ago she never had an illness though she was operated on for appendicitis at the age of 85. Mrs. Hole was born in l3erwi'ckshire, Scotland, and canie to New Zealand at the age oi' 11. She married Mr. W. H. Hole in 18(53 and three years later took up farming at Halswell where Mrs. Hole lived ever since. She had lived in the same house for the last 71 years. It was built 12 years after they iirst took up the farm, replacing the original ■ sod cottage. Mr. Hole died in 1915. Four .sons and three daughters of Alrs.iHole's 15 children are still living. One of the grandchildron is Mr. Taliu ITole, formerly a journalist in New Zealand and now an executive ofilcer of the B.B.C.
