During the course of routine ditties on Saturday evening thQ Feilding police took into custody an elderly man on a charge of drunkenness. He was picked up at Awahuri not only because of his intoxicated condition but also hecause the police ha^reason to "believe that he was carrying with him a large sum of money. On being searched at the police station confirmation was forthcoming of the statements that had heen made regarding the reputed wealth of the drunk.
