Drunk With £700 In His Pockets
During the course of routine ditties on Saturday evening thQ Feilding police took into custody an elderly man on a charge of drunkenness. He was picked up at Awahuri not only because of his intoxicated condition but also hecause the police ha^reason to "believe that he was carrying with him a large sum of money. On being searched at the police station confirmation was forthcoming of the statements that had heen made regarding the reputed wealth of the drunk. In his pockets were found a jumhle of currency notes including £5, £10 and even £50 notes; amounting in all to almost £700. ■ ' A^WWVWWVWWWWSAwwwvs^AAA/
