Mysterious Knocking In House
SYDNEY, June 11. M^terious knocking sounds which' came — at times • deafeningly — from a house in the suburb of Mar'tdale > last night have police and local residents baflled. The nolses, whicli lasted ±*or more than five hou'rs,'. were in a house occupied by Mrs. Norman Green and her. three young children- Mrs, Green 's husband, who is a fireman, was on duty, but the police took hira to his home. The noises began about 8 p.m. and continued yvith varying fntensity tiJl
1 a.m. toda'y and then faded away. Mrs. Green and her children were terrified by the sounds and sought the protection of neighbours. The neighbours and police examined the roofs, walls, and underneath the floor, but could find notliing. The sounds move l to various parts of the house. Thev came from the floor, the roof and the walls at different times. A bloclc in tlie water supply system is suspected and is to be investigated.
