Commercial Building.
An application ' for an extension to their proposed new furniture display building in Oxford Street in material other than brick or concrete was refused a local business firm, which sought such permission from the Levin Borough Council at a meeting on Wednesday night. The council decided to adhere- strictly to its policy in regard to the brick area. An application for permission to build a shop and dwelling in Mako Mako Road, Levin, was granted to Mr. L. Williams. The Levin Borough Council'-s S9I1citors have advised that in view ,of the absence of the full delegation of powers to loc^l bodies, it. is not competent for the council to .ssue proceedings in respect of breaehes of the Building Control Regulations. The Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, said that the council now knew where it stood in the matter and there appeared nothing it could do in regard to breaehes but pass the .'information on to the Building Controller where irregularities were found, __
