KAURI PINE AT ELLERSLIE?

L.M.M.)

(Special — From

WEED1INGTUJN, June lu. For the opening day of its winter meeting at Awapuni the Manawatu Racing Glub has attracted particularly good fields in all events and with recent good winter form to guide them patrons should fare well. There are a number of winter performers engaged making their, first appearance. ^ These should be watched for future meetings, such as Wellington. Good fields are also carded for the concluding day of the Auckland winter meeting, while at Wingatui the final day of tbe Dunedin fixturfc should, with the changed track, see well"backed horses that failed on the two opening days more nromiuent tomorrow.

The las. namc-d might be seen to good advantage tomorrow if recovered from his crash last week. • The" Winter Steeplechase at Ellerslie has drawn a poor field and if Vindicator is reserved for this event he wiil offiy need to repeat his Great Northern performance, when he ran third, to gain the winning list. Tremello has had sufficient fiat racing work to make him fit to show to advantage in the Collinson Hurdles at Awapuni, but if Roman Duke repea.s his Great Northern Piurd'es performance the shorter distance tomorrow will be to his advantage. Prospects for Manawatu, Auckland and Dunedin are: —
