Some Sports Bodies Get Use Of Regent Hall
HF Table' tennis and badminton clubs will be granted Ihe use of the Regent Had and supper room aftej the renovations are completed. This was decided at this week's 'meeting of the Levin Borough Council, but it was decided tp> reserve 'the right to withdraw the privfege if it was found that these sports were detrimental to the hall. It was stated that basketball and boxing could not possibly^be accommodatejd in view of the fixtures which wojil'd require to be put down, and a'so the question of dust nuisance. • The Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, in 'the course of the„discussion, 'said that a council had to foster healthy sport in the community, even if it was at a slight risk to the hall. -A sub-committee .- was later set irp> xinder the chairmanship of Cr. R. A. Frederikson to -go into the fimng of a scaie of charges. and the whole question of the use to which the -hall could be i>ut.
