County Inspection. The Horo whenua County Council will this year make its inspection of the coiinty a tiiree-day one, instead of one-day as in 'ihe past. The 555-ton motor vessel Vestria, latest addition to the Northern Steamship Co.'s fieet, left Genoa at the week-end on another stage of her deiivery . voyage from Wales to New Zealand. The vessel left Barry on May 8 under the command of Captain J. Appleton. She will call at Livorrio and will then load phosphate at Sfax. She is expected to arrive in New Zealand next month. Prize For Happy Marriage. Happily-married coupies stand a chance of winning a novel conteso at the Waikato winter show — the Dunrnow F.itch competition. It is based on the old Engiish custom of awarding a flitch of bacon to a couple atiending the show who can prove that they have spent the firsc year of their married life in harmony. The prize is a hamp'er of food a month, which the winn'er will send for a year to the winner of the Dunmow Flitch in Britain. There are a number of entries. Cathedral For Suva. Erection of an Anglican cathedral in Suva will probably begin this year, according to 'the Bishop of Poiynesia, the Rt. Rev. L. S. Kempthorne. In 30 years members of the Church have contributed £16,000 towards the projeet. "The cathedral Will be completed in stages, beginning with the chancel. We shall erect the shell and leave it to posterity to complete the ornamentation," said the bishop yes.erday. Gorge Rock Blasted. A diffieult task, that of removing the 12-ton rock which had partially blocked the Manawatu Gorge on Monday; was successfully accomplished yesterday. Owing to .the danger of likely further 15 falls, work was not commenced until yesterday when a part'y of five men under the direction of the overseer, Mr. C. Olivecrona, was successful in shattering the rock with three plugs of gelignite. Portions of rock which were not blown directly •into the river were then small enough to be easily handled. Traffic was held up only a short .tjme * dijring blasting operations*
