Enthusiastic Meeting Of Hockey Association
♦ - The Horowhenua Hockey Asso- . ciation held a mosit enthusiastic meeting in Otaki last week, when there was the usual satisfactory attendance of district delegates. Mr. L. V. Trass (Levin) presided and also present were Misses McKenzie (Textile, Foxton) and Kingi (Raukawa), Mrs. Webby (Rahui), Messrs Spiers, Cottle and Fuller (Te Horo) , Mosen (Textiles) , Tuohy and Leask (Levin), F. Thorpe (Rahui), W. Ralph (umpires) and Mrs. Seal (secretary) . After extending a cordial welcome to a new member in Mr. Fuller, the chairman advised that the correspondence contained several matters of importance, which meant a busy season for the association. The Wellington senior selectors suggested sending a senior team to Otaki for representative matches, with the idea in mind of giving the selectors the chance to view the -Horowhenua association's seniors in action. It was agreed to accept the suggestion and to recommend that July 23 be set aside for these games. Dannevirke and Wairarapa associations asked for representative games to be arranged, and the possibility of teams attending the New Zealand tournament from August 27 to September 3 at Masterton will be further discussed at the association's next meeting. Mr. Ralph was appointed with Mrs. Seal as junior selector and donations of £2 2s and £1 ls were thankfully acknowledged. It was further agreed that if postponement of weekly matches is necessary, that noon be the hour recommended for postponement, thereby saving much inconvenience to teams that may be required to
travel. The Otaki Borough Council agreed to the association's reauest for control of the hockey field on the Otaki Domain until August 31. New rule books were to hand from the Wellington association. The next meeting of the association is to take place in Levin on July 5.
