Underground Railway For Auckland Envisaged
AHCKLA-ND, June 7. Fast comfortable trains on an electrifled cireular route, are envisaged for Auckland in the Railway Department 's plans. Also planned are underground stations with escalators diseharging Buburban passengers in the heart of the city, improved communication with Northland and railway facilities for future heavy industry areas. Some.of these projeets have yet to receive . the approval of the Government. Many sites were explored to loeate the cen-' tral underground station that would. best serve the commercial centrfe of Auckland and it has been established that a station in Vietoria Street is practicable, with entrance ramps from each side of the street both east and west of Queen Street.
