Killed When Car Rolls 490 Feet Down Hill

• — CHRISTCHURCH, June 6. _ When^ a light car ran • off Summit Road about 3.30 p.m. today and rolled down the hill for about 400 feet, one of the oeeup.ants was killed and three others injured. The man killed was: BERTRAM CHARLES PRESLAND, aged about 70, of 78 North Parade, North Richmond. Those injured and admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, were Mrs. Alexandind Presland, aged about 68, wife of the man killed and Mrs. Florenee Myrtle Hunt, of 16 Poulton AvCnue. Dayid Alfred Nelson, aged 19, of 71 JNTorth Parade, driver of J;he^ car, was treated as an out patient at"th e hospital, The car was owned by Mr. Presland and he and his wife and Mrs. Hunt were being taken for a drive by David Nelson. They were travelling along hiTTvmit Road from the Sign of the Niwi and when they were about a mile from Evans Pass,. the car H ran off the road. It fell about 400 feet, came to rest upside down and was completely wrecked. Those injured were taken to hospital by ambulanee. Mrs. Pres- , land was seriously injured.
