Maori's Death Follows Row In Street
AUCKLAND, June 3. Patal injuries were suffered by a Maori in an afliray at the corner of Nelson Street and Wellesiey Street West shortly before 8.30 tonight. He was Andrew Hoaki, aged between 50 or 60, who is believed to reside 'at Mangakino. Hoakai, who liad been visiting a house in Nelson Street barely 50' yards from the spot where his body was found, left the premises accompanied by several other ■ Maoris. A littxe after 8 o 5clock residents in the vicinity heard sounds o'f an argument followed by a heavy thud, and on making investigations they found Hoaki lying iiat on his back on the footpath with blood oozing out of his mouth and his arms outstretehed. At least t'hree men were seen walking away from the corner up Wellesiey Street toward Queen .Street. The poiiee and an ambulance were summoned and within a few minutes of the call a poiiee patrol ear was diverted to the scene by a radio message broadcast froin the Central Police Station. it was followed by Superintendent S. U. Hall, Mr. J. Walsh, inspector in charge of detectives, and Senior Deteetive W. R. Pell, offieer in charge of the Edney murder inquiry. Investigations are proeeeding.
