Fined for Dropping Parcel Near Prison Camp
- NEW PLYMOUTH, June 2. A woman visitor to th.e Hautu prisou camp wh.o, oa leaving, purposely dropped a parcel contairdng money, tobaeco, matekes, cliocolate; books and writing paper on the road near the super'intendent's house, was chafged in the. Taumarunui 'Court to-day. She was Lucy. Anderson, pantrymaid, Chateau Tongariro, who, the poliee said, was at present on probation. Mr A. Coleman S.M., fined her £7 and stated that she could obtain possession of the articles from the police at Taumarunui. Archibald Banks, officer in charge of the camp, said that about midday on April 4 aeeused was seen leaving the * grounds. That was her seeond visit. She had been informed that she had been seen dropping a parcel on a previous visit and so he told his son to wateh her. Anderson had been told that she could not leave any artieles at the prison, The parcel was dropped outside the superintendent's house on which the prisoner visited was working.
