Received Wednesday 10.20 p.m." NEWCASTLE, June 3. The Maori All Blacks defeated Newcastle by 17 points to nil before 400o ( spectators. The Maoris scored fou. tries (one converted) and a penait> goal. The Maoris were listless for three quarters of the game and led 3 — Q at half time. It took 50 minutes to score tlie first try. Newcastle f orwards matched them with fieree rucking and tlie backs tackled fearlessly. The Ma iiris' forward weight prevailed and in the last ten minutes the forwards took eontrol. Magnifieent games were play ed by Lance Hohaia, Heperi, Reid ano iryers. Kenny pulled a muscle in a leg. The' match fea tured fighting in-.'tjih s^rtims before the ball entered. The best mbvements of tht match were when the Maoris scored the last two tries, forwards cooperating with backs. Scorers were McKinley, Gouch, L. Hohaia and Reid tries. Tay lor a goal and Beazley kicked a penalty goal.
