Regent Hall Alterations Progressing Well
With thq ha1l free for tpe next three weeks, the Levin Bqrough Council's staff is working a1! put on fhe alterations to the Regent; Hall, The walls have been thorougniy cleaned and are at present receiving their hasjc coats of paint,- a spray gun being usep for thiis work Qubstantial alterations ate underway, the supper room being now made ready for pgfnting and in parts, p'aatering. Much of fhe old P*aatephas fallen down during the alterations and this will be replaced with pjne^ bdarding. The passage-wuy into the hal] has been widened and the alcove is in the process pf being elpsed in, and Will form the future kitchen. Both the men's- and woinen's cloak rooms are at present being constructed. This is being brought about by the subdivision of what was the kitchen. A new fire escape and entrance for bringing heavy furnishings into the hall is being consfructed at the far western corner of the hall. Double doors will take the place of the window there. This will improve the ventilation problem and alsq g|ve easy exit in case qf :$re, or for the bringing up of equipment and decoratiops, _ A small landing has been built just outside the doors, with sleps leading down to the alleyway behind Oxford gtreet.
