Founders' Society Buys Wakefield House

WELLINGTON, May 81. The purchase of the property known as Wakefield House has recently been completed by the New Zealand Founders' Society. The property is at 90 The Terrace, Wellington, and is part of the original grant of one aere made to Edward Gibbon Wakefield. A portion of this house is his original residence where he died. The buildings eonsist of a two-storied wooden structure containing 12 residential flats. The society intends to eonvert two of these flats inj;o club rooms for use by members and for storing the society 's valuable historieal works. Finance for the purchase is being provided mostly by donations. ,
