In an 18-mile race from Levin to the south end of the Whirokino

Bridge on Saturday, Ross Harper, John Taylor and Harry Donovan secured the first three places, the three best times being Taylor (49£ nfinsO, Donovan (49f mins.) and,

R. Harper (50 mins.) . The liniit men began to tire about six miles from the start. Yeates and Ross Harper were in fronu, with Tay.or aird Donovan piaking good time. The scratch men, Connoiiy, N. Harper and P. E.iiott, were making up little time at this poin„. About eight miles out, Yeates dropped back to Taylor and Donovan. Ross Harper was in front at the turning point. At the Waitarere turn-off on the way home, Ross Harper was siightiy leading from Taylor, Donovan and Yeates, Cap-, per and Rolston dropping back. The I scratch men were stili well back. ■ At the Heatherlea corner, Ross Harper and Yeates were Sjightly leading irom Taylor and Donovan, but Harper wenc forward into the lead to win half a minute ahead of Taylor, with Donovan a close third and Yeates a short distance back. Next came Connolly and E.liott, foilowed by Rolston, M. Harper and Capper.
