WELLINGTON, May 31. The view that a New Zealanc Maori team should have been giver a match against the Australiar. t'.uring team this season was ex1 ressed in a letter received at yes- ' •rday's meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union i'rnm the East- Coast union, which .'I-o requested that a fixture be'wppn East Coast-Poverty Bay anc British touring team next year bo allocated to Ruatoria. The chairman, Mr. A. St. C. Bel•ffirr, expressed the opinion that e union was giving Maori players ' i-ty of games. He was sure that n 'he Maori team had not gone tc Ao.stralia, the union would have onivided them with a game against visitors. The East Coast union is to be inh rnied that in view of the shortof the tour and the numbei u unions requesting games, it is ■ Tetted that no provision could made for a special match with a V ari team.
