Jubilee Preparations

• ^ • Some excellent window displays have been arranged by local*. business people to commemorate the jubilees of the Shannon School and the Shannon Football Cluh, which are to be held at the end of next week. Old photographs of the early township and early residents make up the bulk of the interesting displays, while one businessman has on display a double-barrelled, muz-zle-loading shot gun. This gun, together with all the aecessories, is well over 100 years old and is valued at -a considerable sum. The jubilee souvenir booklets of both the school and the football club are now in the hahds. of the printers and should he on sale to the public during the coming week. The football club's booklet gives the history of football in this district, and will he a valued addition to the sportsman's library, while the school publication gives the history of the school and district over the past 60 years, and is as near a complete record as has been possible to print in the 64 pages of the booklet. Both booklets will find their way into homes all over New Zealand and are worthy souvenirs of the school's diamond jubilee and the football* club's golden jubilee.
