• ■«> WELLINGTON, May 26. The citizen is said to realise his iffcrea'sing age when the poiiceman on the beat appears to be growing younger. The"e will be more rea.son for challenging the deduction in future because well gr own . suit able young men of- 18 vears can join the police force today. The Commissioner, Mr. J. Cummings, confinned this today, qualifying it with the statement that sueh reinforcements must show that they are well adapted for police duty. "We are using them for clerical and indoor work while tliey grow older and more ma ture," he said.
