May Meeting Of Women's Division

« The well-attended May .meeting was presided over by Mrs. E. H. Barber (president) aird Mrs. J. Kilmister, aai old member, rejoined and was welcomed. It was proposed that an executive committee be formed to meet once in two months, the personnel to be' the president, two vice-presi-dents, secretary, treasurer, housekeeping secretary and a'dvisory member to the division. This was carried. The question of membership of the division was discussed and it was agreed that those eligible for admission as ordinary members must be wives, mothers, or daughters of resi'dents and re'r tired farmers, or of owners of rural lands and all connected with the land. It- was decided to open the "on the spot" refreshment booth at the sale yards on stock sale days again after a iapse of five months, the procee'ds, as in the past, to be devoted to sending parcels to Britain. Mrs. R. A. Lester and Mrs. J. A. Allerby offered their services for the May sale day. As a means of making the meet-

ings more interesting, each member was asked tcTprepare a written programme for A meeting and hand it in for the executive committee to peruse, with object of arranging an interesting yearls programme. While the hostesses Mesdames S. Fitzsimmons ahd W. H. Roberts" serve'd afterhoon tea the roll call was answered. The results of the competitions were as follows: — Best bloom: Mrs. C. Stern 1, Mesdames E. H. Barber,' A. E. Burling and C. Guerin (equal) 2. Decorated saucer: Mrs. E. H. Barber. The hostesses for June will he Mesdames H. Stern' ahd H. Scott, and the competitions for the best bloom and the prettiest 'doily. Very much admired were two soft toys for children (a donkey and a bear) and also a handbag, these being made by Mrs.' J. Kilmister, who has donated them for prizes at a forthcoming division flower show. Before dispersing, the president, on hehalf of members, asked Miss GraCe Smith to accept a small gift with their very best wishes for happiness in her "married life.
