INTENSIVE INVESTIGATIONS

Press Association)

(Per

AUCKLAND, May 23. Detectives and experts are intensively investigating the murder t of Frederick Edney, the dancing teacher. There was a hole or punctured wound about one inch in diameter in the skull above deceased's left ear, such as might have' been made with an instrument like a ball tip hammer. The body was covered with an eiderdown, while a pilloW under the head was covered with a blood-stained towel. Leading from the foot of the' stairway from Queen Street were drips of blood on the side near the wall, suggesting that Edney probably walked up rather than was carried. It is not thought that the motive for the crime was robbery, as about £250 in bank-notes was found in the flat.
