• •»> WELLINGTON, May 19. The possibility of lifting petrol rationing was mentioned by Mr. W. H. Brown, president, to the council of the North Island Motor Hnion today. He said that the union had eertain information which it was unable to disclose, Beporting on the deputation to the Minister of Siipply (Mr. Nordmeyer) he said the situafion seemed to be that eommunications had been sent to the British Government and Mr. Nordmeyer was awaiting a reply before he could make any decision about rationing. The Minister was in f avour of abolition, he said, but up to now no reply had been received. The general restoration of the 10 per cent. petrol reduetion made. last year is under consideration, according to adviee received from the Oil Euel Controller (Mr. G. L. Laurenson) at the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce, states a Gisborne message. The Associated Chambers of Copimerce wilj. be advised when the restoration is decided on, he added.
