Memorial Hall Funds To Be Invested Meanwhile
At a meeting of the Shaiinon and Districts War Memorial Hall Committee held recently it was decided to plaee £1000 of the amonnt held by the committee in a National Sayings accdunt. This decision was afrived at following a discussion after the flnancial statement had been presented by Mr. R. Hook, the secretary. The committee viewed the finances very optimistically and expressed Satisfaction with ;the total sum of £1250 which is the amonnt in hand at the present time. The chairman, Mr. R. R.d Lind, |said that the committee were very pleased with the present position and he felt that the war memorfal hall was now in sight. The £1250 in hand would amount to £2500 when the Government subsidy was added and this was a very good start towards making the hall a fact. .Mr. Lind added, that over £25 in donations had come to hand since the ! carnival had closed and further donations are expected. In eoncluding his remarks, Mr. Lind, on hehalf of the commlittee, siincerely thanked the two carnival committees, the young ladies who were the queens, and the public generally for their support in forming *a fund which is now firmly established to bring about a most wqrthy object in the memorial hall.
